The Omaha-World Herald is reporting that Creighton Bluejays point guard Maurice Watson Jr. is currently being investigated for sexual assault. Per the report, the alleged incident took place in February:

Omaha police are investigating Creighton point guard Maurice Watson in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place in Omaha earlier in February, according to a source with knowledge that a police investigation had been launched.

This news comes after the announcement Wednesday of a suspension levied to him by Creighton University last week. As a result of that suspension, Watson is currently barred from any athletic-related activities.

To this point in time, as the report from the OWH entailed, Watson hasn’t been charged or arrested yet. If that changes, we at BECB will do our best to keep you all in the know. For now, we ask that you please keep things civil before and while commenting on this situation.

Update (2/23, 5:53 p.m. ET): Earlier Thursday, WOWT News in Omaha reported that Watson Jr. is the suspect in the sexual assault investigation. The Omaha Police Department confirmed as much as well.

WOWT News’ article on the matter adds further details on the matter at hand:

According to reports, police were called to a local hospital around 10:30 in the morning on February 4th, 2017. A woman there reported that she had been sexually assaulted earlier that morning, saying that a suspect allegedly had non-consensual sex with her in the bathroom of a home.

Omaha Police confirm that the man suspected in correlation with the allegations is Watson Jr.

The aforementioned link to the OWH article by Jon Nyatawa has also added the details as well.
