Best in the new Big East.... The Louisville Cardinals

As a huge basketball fan with a desk job I spend my fair share of time reading the message boards. I mainly stick to the Big East blogs because really.... what else is there? I browse from page to page scoping out the competition but as a Louisville fan I've noticed something. There's a certain arrogance that I see from the"old big east" powers. I'm not sure what the deal is, I've read on numerous websites about how they don't wanna play a former CUSA team twice. Whats the problem, is there even a problem? Is there secret beef between old and new? Am i only posting this because I'm smoking a joint??? Either way where here to stay. Look out boys the cards are the leaders of the new school and we plan on winning a lot more big east banners.

I don't see why people would have an issue...

Louisville has been very good at basketball and they would improve anyone’s resume. In basketball I don’t see it as an issue, but I can see it as an issue in football. Schools like Syracuse, Pitt, and WVU have been in the Big East for a while and don’t like seeing U of L, USF, and Cincinatti come in and do well. As a WVU fan, I hate watching Cincinatti beat us and I hated some of the games that have created a nice rivalry between U of L and WVU. I do think that USF needs to do something to prove they can actually compete for a title in the Big East. They have had some good years, but picking them to win it when they have never before seems a little premature. I can’t wait to watch the Big East this year though. We are going to have some good teams between Cinci, WVU, Pitt, USF, Uof L, and Syracuse.

Syracuse fan here

We have an established rivalry with Georgetown. No matter what, we feel that we should play them twice a year. Imagine if the commish came in and said Louisville couldn’t play Kentucky next year. You would be as upset as we are. Louisville happened to be the team that was substituted for Georgetown on our schedule.

The reason UConn doesn’t get the bashing that Louisville does is because we have a pretty big rivalry with them as well. Recently we’ve seen some of the best overall games of the decade played against UConn. In the last 6 years of the Big East tournament, we’ve played 8 overtimes against UConn in 4 games.

We aren’t bashing Louisville for anything they do on the court or as a program. It’s just that we would like to see our schedule be based against teams that we grew up watching and hating. Louisville has pretty much beaten us every game so maybe that’s why we don’t have a rivalry. I mean, you can’t have one if one team wins every game. But also, it never feels like a game against Louisville hurts when we lose. I’ve punched holes in my apartment when Syracuse lost to Georgetown and UConn.

I actually think Louisville is the most respected

of the new teams that came into the Big East in 2005. Already won the conference in football and won the regular season and tournaments in basketball since joining. I think it really comes down to what actioncuse said. The old guard wants to make sure that they keep getting to play their oldest rivals.
