Texas to the Big East! Is it really any crazier than TCU joining?
Why not Texas to the Big East? They could join Notre Dame as our second non-football member that plays FBS football as an indy. I know it sounds absurd at first and second, OK and third, but just hear me out here and imagine the possibilities.
With Texas Football basically being the elephant in the room that is completely destroying the house around it there is no conference that wants them anymore. The only hybrid power conference happens to be the Big East and we should use it to our advantage. This could all be step one of the Big East plan to become one of the 2 or 3 top conferences in the land.
I could see a set up something like this. With 12 FB teams and 20 BB we could have divisions in football only and do a round robin 19 game schedule for basketball where every team plays every other team once during the regular season or go to divisions for both Football and Basketball. There would also be room for further tweaks in the future if we need to #bootDePaul or any other BB only in order to bring in more football schools. How powerful would this confernce be? I think extremely powerful.

I know it's insane
But I don’t care. I think that this would be a way for the Big East to basically get the last laugh. ND and TX are both probably better off as independents in FB and the Big East could be home to both of them. Could be quite a coup and would definitely help us go afther any other schools we wanted.

I'd be on board with that
Especially if the BE could get UT and ND to agree to schedule a couple of BE schools as OOC games each year on a rotating basis.
We will not rest until we see these capitalist octopuses annihilated.

I agree.
I think that could definitely be an added benefit to such a relationship. I posted this idea on a UConn message board and they think I’m totally nuts but I think it could work to the advantage of everyone involved.

Except for every Big East Baseball team apart from TCU.

Not seeing the problem with this
/SU doesn’t have a baseball team

UConn is getting better at Baseball
and the Big East is a better baseball conference then people realize. With Texas and TCU in it could become one of the top baseball conferences in the country.

I don’t understand why we would need Texas. Why not just get rid of them, slide Villanova into their spot in basketball, and add Missouri(if we are already adding the two Kansas schools)?

I agree with you
That if we could get Kansas, Kstate, and Mizzou right now then we should just go ahead and do it and would have no use for Texas. However, I’m not sure that if the12 is going to collapse that someone else like the Big 10 would not take the most attractive B12 schools if we just wait for that to happen. We could offer Texas non football, along with full membership to KU, KSt. , and Mizzou right now and there would be a good shot they’d all take the offer. I’d rather be proactive.
