The Morning Fast Break (Nov. 28, 2016): Marquette volleyball gets in the NCAA Tournament and takeaways from Georgetown’s win

Welcome to The Morning Fast Break: Your daily source for Big East news and reads.

NCAA Basketball: Maui Invitational- Georgetown vs Oklahoma State Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the start of a new week, and we have three days left in November.

Screwy ain’t it?

Let’s roll. We have one Big East game going down tonight in Salt Lake City. Aside from that, the slate is relatively clean. Power Rankings and the Big East Coast Podcast is coming your way today and perhaps more as well.

Here we go!

MU Volleyball is in the NCAA Tourney! (Anonymous Eagle)

The NCAA announced the 64 team field on ESPN on Sunday night, where it was revealed that the Golden Eagles will travel just a bit down I-94 to Madison to face Washington State on Thursday, December 1, at 5pm Central. The winner of that match will move on to face the winner of the match between #3 seed and host Wisconsin and Howard on Friday.

How do you feel about X? (Banners on the Parkway)

In terms of seeding, RPI is still king and considering we are sitting at 1 its hard to complain. In terms of developing, I think its great to play in a few close games early and even better if you learn from those games without taking a loss, and thats exactly what XU did.

What did we learn from the Hoyas win? (Casual Hoya)

Winning trumps losing, but not all W's are created equal. The Hoyas (3-4) led 16-0 just over four minutes into the game. Impressive start? Oh, yeah, but things were rather meh from there. The lead grew to 19 at 37-18 with under eight minutes left in the first half. That's a fact. Howard (0-5) played with more energy and aggression after that strong start by Georgetown. Maybe that's not a fact, but that's a fair statement.

Seton Hall falls in AdvoCare Invitational (SHU Hoops)

A dismal offensive performance from Seton Hall ruined a strong start and sealed a 1-2 showing at the Advocare Invitational as the Pirates crumbled at the hands of Stanford on Sunday night, 66-52.

‘Nova is going back to Atlantis (VU Hoops)

Investigative work gave us the tip 17½ months ago that Villanova would be returning to the 2017 Battle 4 Atlantis. Jon Rothstein later added credibility to the rumor 5 months ago.
