Xavier completes Xavier Invitational with win over Toledo

The Musketeers are 3-0 on the year.

The Xavier Musketeers picked up their third win in three days on Friday afternoon, pulling out a 76-73 win over the Toledo Rockets at Cintas Center.

KyKy Tandy had a career-high 24 points for Xavier as the sophomore guard kept the offense afloat throughout the game.

Much like Thursday’s game against Bradley, this was a struggle for the Musketeers. They fell behind by double digits in the first half and spent most of the period trying to get out of the hole before going into the locker room down by four points. The lead would swell back to eight in the second half before the Musketeers got on track with a run

Tandy, along with Paul Scruggs, scored 20 of the final Xavier 24 points, as neither player appeared willing to let the game slip away from them. Scruggs finished with 15 points to go along with six rebounds and seven assists, as he continues to do it all for the Musketeers.

Xavier also had a double-digit rebounder, as Jason Carter hauled in 13 boards, setting a new career-high and marking his second straight double-digit rebounding performance.

Ryan Rollins led Toledo with 20 points. Setric Millner finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Rockets.

Xavier will return to action Monday when they host Eastern Kentucky.
