Looking at Georgetown's most intriguing 2014-15 Big East games

Georgetown has a couple marquee matchups this season, but two in particular stick out as our Devonte Brooks writes.

The Georgetown Hoyas' schedule has finally been released, which means that college basketball is finally close to coming back. Freshmen will get to experience what a college crowd is like, playing at home and trying to win the Big East Championship, as well as all of the pomp and pageantry on The Hilltop and throughout the country.

The Hoyas have an interesting schedule in the 2014-15 season, and to kick off conference play, they play the Xavier Musketeers on New Year's Eve, with a rare 10 p.m ET start time. The last time the Hoyas met the Musketeers in the Cintas Center, Xavier went on a huge run, towards the end of the game, as Georgetown gave up a lead and lost 80-67. D`Vauntes Smith-Rivera & Co. will no doubt be seeking revenge for that late gaffe at the start of the Big East season.

The Hoyas do not resume conference play until Jaunuary 3, when they play against Creighton, who look primed to have a tough year with the loss of 80 percent of their starting lineup, as well as the fact that they have multiple transfers who will not be able to play quite yet. It's hard enough to replace a legendary player like Doug McDermott, but the fact that Creighton lost so much in the offseason could prove pivotal for them, as well as the Hoyas here early in the conference season as they look to get out to a quick start.

On the nonconference side, Georgetown has matchups with the Kansas Jayhawks at the Verizon Center and a confirmed matchup with the Florida Gators in the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, but those two above Big East matchups are just some of the games that Hoya fans will have their eyes on this coming year.
