Sports Illustrated ranks every D-I basketball team; Big East teams all over the place

The highest ranked Big East team is Villanova, obviously. From there, it's a bit muddled, sans DePaul.

Sports Illustrated completed their annual ranking of the 351 Division I College Basketball teams on Tuesday. One Big East team made the Top 25, that team being Villanova who comes in at number eight. From there, Georgetown and Xavier come in at #31 and #42, respectively. Then we see a huge drop off. Let's take a look at the list in full, from a Big East perspective.

#8: Villanova Wildcats

#31: Georgetown Hoyas

#42: Xavier Musketeers

#58: St. John's Red Storm

#61: Providence Friars

#67: Marquette Golden Eagles

#79: Seton Hall Pirates

#82: Creighton Bluejays

#102: Butler Bulldogs

#182: DePaul Blue Demons

Poor DePaul. They are sandwiched between Lehigh and Northern Arizona, so it has to be lonely down there. Also, Marquette is much higher than I would have thought, given all that they've lost.
