Class of 2015 center Justin Patton officially announced his intentions of staying within the state of Nebraska and committing to Creighton University on Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement comes almost five months after Patton decided to verbally commit to coach Greg McDermott. He's the top recruit in the Cornhusker State according to 247sports, and currently attends Omaha North High School. He averaged 11.8 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game last season as a member of the Omaha North Vikings basketball team.
Patton's commitment makes it abundantly clear that coach Greg McDermott is keen on adding size to the Bluejays as they go forward in the Big East Conference. Last year, in their first season as a member of the conference, Creighton was decimated consistently down low and were one of the worst rebounding teams among their Big East peers. Now, though, with sophomore Zach Hanson being warmed up for the future, and 6-foot-10 Justin Patton as well, Creighton appears ready to tussle with the big boys of the Big East in 2015 and beyond.
Below is a video of Patton, per Nebraska HS Hoops, working on his outside shooting, which should excite Bluejays fans based on their history as "Shooter U."
