After decommitting from Loyola (MD) a few weeks ago, and taking his official visit to Seton Hall this past weekend, Class of 2015 shooting guard Dalton Soffer has decided to commit to Seton Hall and sign his letter of intent, meaning he is officially a Pirate.
Soffer was behind the Seton Hall bench during their exhibition game against Caldwell, he told Big East Coast Bias, and he was also with fellow Class of 2015 recruit Myles Carter, who was on an official visit of his own. The exhibition game was really good and he got to see how he would fit into Seton Hall system.
Soffer told Big East Coast Bias why he decided to commit to Seton Hall.
"The visit was great. It was fun hanging out with the players and coaches," said Soffer. "I got a better feel for their style of play during the exhibition game with Caldwell. I committed because I see myself playing there and being part of a winning team. The guys on the team are really cool."
Soffer is the definition of a shooter. When he is behind the arc, there's a high chance that the ball will go in, and that is one thing he takes pride in. When he comes off screens, he is deadly. One thing that is underrated about his game is that he can get to the lane. Soffer is working on his ball handling, pull-up game and his defense.
Before the summer, Soffer was an unknown. Then, the offers started to pile up. He held offers from Loyola, Seton Hall, Bucknell, Pennsylvania, Manhattan, Yale, Colgate, Siena and Boston University.
Outside of basketball, Soffer chose to commit to Seton Hall because the campus is really great. He likes that it's right near New York City and he has family 45 minutes away from the campus. Soffer told Big East Coast Bias that he will be able to contribute in scoring and rebounding from the guard/forward position right away.
As for now, Soffer is focusing on winning the league and then the San Diego section title. Soffer is the first commit in the Class of 2015 for the Pirates, but next up I think Myles Carter will follow his footsteps and commit as well.
