SMU, UCF, Temple & Navy rumored expansion targets
As per the Boston Globe article, the Big East is looking to add SMU, Central Florida, Temple and Navy (football only).

All of this
Just seems stupid — given the league’s various problems. UCF, SMU don’t help basketball much, and don’t do a ton for football, other than stability as a football league (not as a BCS football league — there’s a difference). And honestly, why add dead weight on the basketball side? Might as well exploit the Big East’s strength at this point (hoops) and try to field a competent football league. I’d support ECU, SMU and UCF. But I think we all remember Temple’s last stint in the league, as well as Navy’s recent 10-year period of irrelevance (which preceded their current run of success).
