Iliana Limón of the Orlando Sentinel thinks that UCF may not jump immediately at a Big East invite, and she's normally got a pretty good feel for what the UCF admin is thinking.

I think they have to join

Sure the Big East could lose 2-4 more teams in the next few years, but even if WVU, Louisville, and two others leave, the Big East is a better starting point for building a power conference than CUSA or the MWC. It’s far easier to put a conference together from scratch than to vote to kick out teams that are just too bad.

Just thought it was interesting

that after years of pining for a spot in the Big East, UCF may be reluctant to join right away. I think you’re right that UCF will join if asked, but it’s interesting to see their reluctance.

I don't think UCF....

has said they would not join. The fact that there has been not a peep out of Orlando means that UCF and the BE are working on a deal. I would say by Thursday and invite would go out followed by UCF joining by Friday to get buzz going over the weekend.

Honestly I agree with one point in the article and that is the BE will not have its AQ status removed without a legal fight. Also if Boise State splits the MW for the BE that conference will not get the AQ as all the power will have left (Air Force, BYU. TCU, Boise). And Conf USA will not get it because its power rankings have not been high. Remember TVs play a factor and the MW does not capture them. UCF et al, are run by smart people who will look and say that the BE is a good deal.

The delay is because John Marinatto is googling

Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Orlando close to campus for when he goes down for an announcement.
