The Villanova Wildcats and Creighton Bluejays remain presences in the newest AP Top 25.
Villanova and Creighton rank 8th and 13th in this week’s poll. This is an improvement for each, as ‘Nova slides up two spots from 10th and the Jays slide up to 13th from 14th a week ago.
Creighton went 2-0 this week, earning wins over both Georgetown and aforementioned Villanova. The win over the Wildcats was impressive, as they scored a 16-point win in their home dwelling. It may for that reason be interesting that ‘Nova moved up with a 1-1 week, but thanks to chaos — Houston, Texas and Virginia all losing — there was a bit of sliding around in the top half of the rankings.
‘Nova was able to avoid an 0-2 week that likely would’ve seen a big slide in the rankings with their win over UConn. They defeated the Huskies at Finneran Pavilion on Saturday, remaining undefeated at home in this truncated season. ‘Nova is still in the Top 10 obviously, and should remain a fixture there so long as things stay on the right path.
The Xavier Musketeers were the only other Big East team to receive votes this week, earning two.
