As the Ohio State Buckeyes continue their coaching search, a new name has popped up: Creighton Bluejays head coach Greg McDermott.
Jeff Goodman of ESPN had the news first.
Ohio State is meeting with Creighton's Greg McDermott tonight, source told ESPN. https://t.co/x2pzPTtvnJ

While the interest on both sides may be legitimate, it’s also possible McDermott is looking for a raise. Big East coach contracts aren’t made public, but per this USA Today infographic, McDermott was the second-lowest paid head coach of the seven Big East NCAA Tournament teams this past offseason.
It’s worth pointing out, as well, that Creighton returns a lot of talent in Khyri Thomas, Marcus Foster, and others. Additionally, 247Sports has the Bluejays 2017 recruiting class as the 23rd best in the nation. Going to a significant rebuild at Ohio State would be quite a change.
Over the next few days, we should know one way or another if there’s significance to this rumored meeting.
