The Xavier Musketeers upset the host Vanderbilt Commodores by a 15-1 margin Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
Xavier was leading a 2-1 nailbiter until the seventh inning. Then, suddenly, Xavier just couldn't stop scoring. The seventh inning saw Xavier scoring in a litany of ways. Here they are, in order: Grand slam, RBI single, bases loaded walk, bases loaded walk, RBI single, bases loaded walk, bases loaded walk, bases loaded HBP, fielders choice. In all, the Musketeers sent 17 men to the plate in the seventh inning and tallied 13 runs.
On the other side, Zac Lowther was incredibly sharp for the Musketeers, given Xavier seven innings, allowing four hits, one run, and striking out eight.
The Musketeers will play the UCSB Gauchos later tonight due to yesterday's rainout. The Commodores will fall into the elimination bracket and face Washington in just over an hour.
