Villanova vs. DePaul 2016: Time, TV schedule, odds and 3 things to watch

The No. 1 team in the land heads to Rosemont to battle upset-minded DePaul.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 1 team in the land resides in the BIG EAST Conference. Villanova, checking in at 20-3 with a 10-1 record in conference play will rumble into the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday night. The Allstate Arena Rosemont Horizon has played host to many classic collisions involving heavyweights before - Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, CM Punk vs. John Cena... the list goes on and on and on.

Waiting for the Wildcats will be the DePaul Blue Demons. The Blue Demons are merely 8-15 with a 2-9 record in conference, but to their credit, they have already proven that they can knock off top-ranked teams. Last week, the Providence Friars found that out the hard way, as DePaul picked up their second win in conference play with a 77-70 victory over Kris Dunn and the Friars, shocking much of the college basketball world in the process.

Do Billy Garrett and the Blue Demons have another upset in them?

Or will Villanova, in their first game as the No. 1 team in the country, not fall victim to the trap and instead bust through as the BIG EAST's flag bearer?

Tune in tomorrow to find out.

3 things to watch

1. What does it take to be...?: The 'Cats are top in the BIG EAST and the nation in both polls for the first time ever in school history. They've already got a giant target on their backs and it perhaps increase tenfold with the ranking coming out into the fold on Monday. They have played like a top team all year, but we'll see how the No. 1 ranking affects them, if at all.

2. So nice, they'll do it twice?: As mentioned, the DePaul Blue Demons took down the Providence Friars last week in a Tuesday night encounter at Allstate Arena. Do they have another upset in them? The Wildcats are a tad bit more talented than Providence from a depth perspective, among other reasons, so the Blue Demons will need to assemble a damn near perfect effort to pull off the shocker. As they say, anything's possible. Right?

3. The 'Chef returns to cook: Big man Daniel Ochefu has missed the last three games due to a concussion he suffered in practice prior to Villanova's encounter with St. John's. On Monday, not only did the Villanova program receive the news that they were No. 1, but they also got word that Ochefu was cleared for basketball activities. This can only imply that we'll see Ochefu back in the lineup on Tuesday night to give Villanova a much needed presence protecting the rim. With Darryl Reynolds and Kris Jenkins getting significant burn with Ochefu out of the lineup, expect that tandem of forwards to still get quality minutes and make the most of it after the two each had brilliant performances in the last week.
