Seton Hall vs. St. John's: Game time, TV schedule, odds and more

Before a stretch of tough games, Seton Hall will take on St. John's in what looks to be an easy game for the Pirates.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

After their loss to Butler last week, the Seton Hall Pirates bounced back with a 72-64 win over Georgetown. But it was a very bizzare win for the Pirates. After a great first half which saw Seton Hall take a 36-28 lead into the half, they went ice cold in the second half. Seton Hall didn't make a shot in the final 14 minutes of the game. 14 minutes. Usually if a team doesn't make a field goal for about 70% of the half, they don't win and it's usually not a close game. But Seton Hall somehow hung on for their 18th win of the year. With a record of 18-7 and a conference record of 8-5, Seton Hall find themselves sitting 3rd in the BIG EAST. They are staring at an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament barring a late season collapse, although the schedule is tough at the end.

It took until the last month of the season but the St. John's Red Storm finally got their first win in conference play. The Johnnies were able to improve their horrendous 1-13 conference record. St. John's sit last in the BIG EAST standings as they are the only team in conference play to only have one win. It will be a losing season for the Red Storm (8-19 record overall) but with a cast of young stars and recruits set to come in, the future is bright.

After this game, Seton Hall will take on Providence and Xavier in what will be a tough week for the Pirates.

Meanwhile, St. John's will take on DePaul and Creighton next week.

Three things to watch

1. Can Seton Hall have a solid second half?

Like mentioned earlier, it was a horrendous second half for Seton Hall last time out. Going 14 minutes without a shot is horrendous for Kevin Willard's team and, it may have worked against Georgetown and may work against St.John's, but not against the better teams in the conference. But, the positive thing is that the Pirates have enough scorers on their team to get them out of a slump like that if it comes up again. Isaiah Whitehead had 22 points to lead the team against Georgetown and he will look to lead them in scoring again.

2. Tough road ahead for Seton Hall

This may be a cupcake game for Seton Hall but they have to make sure that they play a solid game of basketball. With games against Providence and Xavier coming up, Seton Hall has to be playing well heading into those games. Getting a win on Sunday can give some crucial momentum heading into next week.

3. Any momentum for St. John's?

St. John's finally got their first win and they will surely look to make it another one against Seton Hall. We all have high hopes for the Johnnies but like all other games, this will be tough. St. John's will be hoping that Seton Hall goes on that 14:06 field goal less streak again.
