How to watch Georgetown vs. Butler: Game time, TV schedule, odds and more

After a tough loss against Providence, Georgetown will look to bounce back against Butler.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Georgetown Hoyas had a big chance to give themselves some breathing room in the BIG EAST standings when they faced off against Providence on Saturday. The Friars and Hoyas were neck and neck in the standings and the win would have done wonders for a Georgetown team that has been riding through a razor-thin margin for error.

But ultimately they fell short, as they lost 73-69 to put their record to 13-9 and dropped to fourth in the BIG EAST standings. But credit must be given to Georgetown for giving a spirited comeback in the second half of that games as they were down 10 with three minutes left in the game and almost came back to tie the game.

With another game against the Friars coming up in about two weeks, the Hoyas will have some time to re-group as that game in Providence will be just as important now that they lost last Saturday. After this game, Georgetown will face Seton Hall and St.John's.

Their opponent will be the Butler Bulldogs who have the most confusing resume in college basketball. Butler has quality wins over teams such as Purdue and Cincinnati yet struggles against teams such as Marquette, whom they took a loss to on Saturday. Outstanding freshman Henry Ellenson had 32 points to lead Marquette over Butler in what was a shocking loss for the Bulldogs despite a huge game from sixth man Kelan Martin.

The loss puts Butler at 14-7 with a 3-6 conference record and now they find themselves eighth in the BIG EAST. This team should make the NCAA Tournament because they are good enough but they have to beat the teams they are suppose to beat. But a win against the Hoyas Tuesday night could do them wonders going forward.

3 things to watch for

1. Another big game from Kelan Martin?: Kelan Martin had himself a game against Marquette as he scored a career high 27 points in their loss against Marquette. He has been fantastic for the Bulldogs coming off the bench as he is averaging 14.8 points per game, good for second on the team. With Butler's woes in conference play so far, Martin is going to have to be a big contributor down the stretch as the Bulldogs push for a higher place in the standings.

2. Can Georgetown come out with a good first half?: The Hoyas in their last two losses have had questionable first halves and have found themselves in holes they can't seem to dig themselves out of. If I'm a G-Town fan I'm looking for the Hoyas to come out and play strong as Butler will be a tough test no matter how bad the offense as been playing. They can't dig themselves out of holes every single game.

3. Moving the basketball: Both of these teams average the same amount of assists (14.7) per game and both of these offenses rely on ball movement as they have a lot more shooters than attackers on both sides. Good ball movement is key to any offense but it is especially key for both of these teams.
