The Villanova Wildcats find themselves entrenched in a precarious position after the first half of play as they own just a slim, one-point lead over the lowly St. John's Red Storm who are searching for their first BIG EAST win and their first win in two months.
Big man Daniel Ochefu has been the standout for the Wildcats in the first half of play. Ochefu has dropped 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and corralled four boards, a steal and a block with no turnovers. Jalen Brunson has six points for the Wildcats, and Darryl Reynolds has four off the bench but no one else has more than two thus far as ineffective shooting has plagued the 'Cats in a big way.
Amar Alibegovic's seven points off the bench have fueled the efforts so far of the winless Red Storm. Ron Mvouika has six points and complementing those two are Malik Ellison, Kassoum Yakwe and Durand Johnson have four points each.
The Wildcats own a slim 19-16 edge in the rebounding department and are getting outmuscled by St. John's on the offensive glass 6-5. 'Nova has eight turnovers to St. John's' seven as some sloppy play has shown up thus far.
Tune in to see if the No. 1 team can hang on or if their stay as the top team in the country goes by the wayside.
