The Bulldogs are favored by 10 points, per OddsShark. The over/under is set at 131.5
Butler is 6-2 against the spread this season, while Indiana State is 6-1.
Butler and Indiana State have squared off 126 times and the Bulldogs hold a 70-56 lead in the series. The Bulldogs are 7-3 in the last ten meetings.
The most recent matchup took place just about a year ago, when Butler beat up on ISU, 85-71. The Bulldogs got big performances from Andrew Chrabascz - who scored 19 points - and Kelan Martin, who poured in a (then) career high 24 points on 10-14 shooting off the bench.
Luckily for Butler, and unfortunately for ISU, both players will be in Terre Haute for the game Wednesday night. Don’t think for one second that they forgot how well they performed against the Sycamores last December.
A big game from either Chrabascz or Martin will be all the Bulldogs need to beat a severely overmatched Indiana State squad.
This has all the makings of a trap game for Butler. With the teams being just 85 miles apart, the crowd inside Hulman Center will surely be rocking.
There’s also the danger that the Bulldogs overlook the Sycamores, and think ahead to the big Top 25 matchup later this week against Cincinnati. The combination of a hostile environment and a possible lack of focus might spell trouble.
But the truth is, Indiana State just doesn’t have the skill and star power to match up with Butler for all 40 minutes.
I expect the game to be close going into the second half, but the Bulldogs will pull away near the end. It’s closer than it should be, but Butler gets the win, 75-69.
