The latest AP Top 25 was issued out on Monday morning, and to no surprise, the Big East is still predominantly featured.
Four teams from the conference are featured in the latest poll, with Villanova retaining their top spot after defeating Temple last Tuesday. The Wildcats received 56 first place votes with the remaining nine going to UCLA (3) and Baylor (6), who finished No. 2 and No. 4 in the poll. Kansas and Duke comprise the rest of the Top 5 after successful weeks in their own right.
Creighton bumped up to No. 9 in the poll after squeaking out a win over Oral Roberts over the weekend. The Jays standing at No. 9 is their highest ranking ever in program history.
Meanwhile, Butler bumped up all the way to No. 13 after their big win over Indiana in the Crossroads Classic. The ‘Dawgs are ahead of IU as well as fellow in-state school Purdue, who check in at 16th and 15th respectively. After that, you would have to go down to No. 17 to find the next team from the Big East to be featured as Xavier holds their spot there after a win over Wake Forest on Saturday.
