Gambling Info

Butler is 6-3 against the spread, while Cincinnati is 5-2.

Previous Meetings

Butler and Cincinnati have played each other 17 times in their rich histories. The Bearcats hold the edge in the series, 10-7.

Even if you are just a lukewarm Big East basketball fan, you probably remember their contest last season in early December.

With the game tied and with just a few seconds left, Roosevelt Jones snatched the ball form the air and made a shot to give Butler the victory.

Even though Jones is no longer with the Bulldogs, don’t think that memory isn’t etched into the brain of the Bearcats players.

Prediction

While both teams have similar records, they come into this game with very different outcomes in their last contests.

The Bearcats travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse with a five game win streak that includes a big victory over Iowa State. The Bulldogs are fresh off their stunning loss at Indiana State this past Wednesday.

Luckily for Butler, the defeat should light a fire under their bellies. A two game losing streak would not serve them well in the polls, or as a way to grasp some momentum before their massive game against Indiana next Saturday.

The sellout crowd will certainly be a factor for the Bulldogs, who haven’t seen a top 25 matchup at home since January against Villanova.

Expect this one to go back and forth, much like the Butler vs. Northwestern game last month. In the end, the Bulldogs get the win: 73-70.
