The Xavier Musketeers’ 2017 recruiting class has just been bolstered even more as Indianapolis, Indiana guard Paul Scruggs has committed to the Musketeers.

The news of Scruggs’ commitment was made official Friday afternoon via his AAU team’s Twitter account and later corroborated by Scruggs via his personal Twitter account.

The addition of Scruggs makes one of the best recruiting classes in the Big East and the country even better now as Xavier had already had the top class in the conference per 247Sports’ recruiting services. Now, with Scruggs aboard for 2017, they retain their top spot in the Big East, and bump up from 8th to 5th in the country with a projected score of 63.42 per 247Sports’ Class Calculator. This move has them leapfrogging Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin in those aforementioned rankings.

Scruggs had been chased by many high-major programs including the Indiana Hoosiers who were perhaps the deepest in the mix besides X to this point. The Musketeers’ Crystal Ball score was 94 percent while the Hoosiers had a mark of 6.0 percent. Other schools that were in the running for him were UConn, Illinois, and Michigan State, among others.

Paul Scruggs is a four-star player per 247Sports’ services and ranks 29th overall in the country.
