Xavier vs. St. John's halftime notes

St. John's

~ Sloppy start and poor shooting, but eight offensive rebounds kept the Johnnies in the game as they attempted 12 more field goals than Xavier in the half.

~ Ron Mvouika, averaging 7.9 points per game, has nine in the first half.

~ The Red Storm ended the half on 16-8 run.

~ St. John's is looking to avoid a 6th straight loss, and a third straight loss to open BIG EAST Conference play.

Xavier

~ It looked to be all Xavier early on, but the Musketeers were not able to build on an early double digit lead.

~ Edmond Sumner didn't make the trip to New York, as he's still recovering from an injury he sustained against Villanova in the conference opener.

~ Xavier started strong despite sitting forward Jalen Reynolds for the first 10 minutes of the game.

~ Balanced scoring for Xavier, lead by James Farr with eight points.
