Villanova Wildcats freshman guard Jalen Brunson is the recipient of this week's BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award.

The talented point guard from Lincolnshire, Illinois is a first-time winner of the accolade which has been passed around frequently this season. Brunson joins Yankuba Sima (St. John's), Edmond Sumner (Xavier), Henry Ellenson (Marquette), Eli Cain (DePaul) and Khyri Thomas (Creighton) as recipients of the honor.

Brunson averaged 12.0 points and 1.5 assists in the Wildcats' victories over the Xavier Musketeers and Creighton Bluejays. This includes a 15-point outing against Creighton where the youngster shot a crisp 6-for-8 from the field and 2-for-3 from long range.
