Stetson vs. Marquette: Game time, TV Schedule, odds and more

Marquette will look to make it two wins in a row as they take on Stetson

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

After a three-game losing streak, the Marquette Golden Eagles bounced back with a 78-73 win against St. John's. The win was Marquette's third in BIG EAST play, but was a big one as it got them off the schneid.

MU lost to both Xavier and Villanova, two respectable losses, but their loss to DePaul was a concerning one as it's DePaul's only win in conference play thus far. A win against St. John's is a step in the right direction for the Golden Eagles, but they still have work to do. At 13-7, Marquette sits 7th in the BIG EAST, and will need to pick it up to get a better seeding in the BIG EAST tournament.

They will be facing the Stetson Hatters, who come into this game with a record of 8-13 and are 2-4 in conference play. They just snapped a losing streak of their own with a win against Kennesaw State after back to back losses to NJIT and Lipscomb.

Hailing from the A-Sun, Marquette will be a very stiff test for the Hatters as the toughest teams they will face in A-10 are North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast (REMEMBER THEM?).

Stetson will be back in A-10 action after this as they face Jacksonville twice and North Florida in their next three games.

After this game it's back to BIG EAST play for Marquette, as they face Butler this Saturday before playing both Seton Hall and Xavier next week. All of those three games will be tough for Marquette, so if there was some time to create some momentum heading into that game, it's now.

3 things to watch

1. Watch out for the Stetson offense: Contrary to the popular belief, Stetson has one of the best offenses in the country. The Hatters are 38th in the country, as they score an average of 80.8 points per game. Stetson can score the basketball and could give the Marquette defense some trouble. The player to watch on Stetson will be forward Derrick Newton, who leads the team in scoring with an average of 15.8 points per game.

2. Distributing the ball: Both Marquette and Stetson are neck and neck with each other when it comes to assists per game. Marquette averages 16.8 assists per game while the Hatters are right behind with an average of 16.3. Ball distribution will be key for both teams, as it will likely take a total team effort from Stetson to win this game. For Marquette moving the ball and finding rhythm on offense will help when they return to BIG EAST play.

3. Let down for Marquette?: This is such a trap game for Marquette. They will be facing a team from a weak conference that can score the basketball at will. The Golden Eagles also have some tougher games after this one so they may be overlooking the Hatters here. Watch out Marquette, in the words of Admiral Ackbar...
