After the first half of play the Xavier Musketeers are protecting their home court, leading the Seton Hall Pirates 40-36.
Xavier and Seton Hall nearly have identical shooting percentages as the first half comes to a close. X has shot 15-for-36 (.417) while Seton Hall has a mark of 16-for-39 (.410) after 20 minutes of action. Neither team is shooting particularly well from the 3-point line either, with the road team shooting 2-for-11 while the home squad has a mark of 3-for-11. Xavier's 7-for-10 mark from the free throw line could very well be the difference in this ball game.
James Farr has been James Farr in the first half, scoring 10 points off the bench with a perfect mark of 4-for-4 from the free throw line. The Musketeers' reliable sixth man has made his presence felt on the boards as well, pulling down eight rebounds - seven defensively- and has two blocked shots, a steal and an assist as well.
Leading in scoring at the half is Seton Hall's Desi Rodriguez. Rodriguez, a sophomore wing from Brooklyn, has 14 points scored with six boards and an assist and has shot 7-for-8 from the field. That's the best of any player with at least four field goal attempts through the game so far, while his teammate Isaiah Whitehead hasn't fared as well, going 2-for-10 in the first half of play. Khadeen Carrington hasn't fared much better either, going 2-for-8 against the stingy Xavier defense.
Leading in boards are the Pirates surprisingly by the thin margin of 26-23. The Hall has committed nine turnovers, while Xavier has just five on the day so far.
Tune in for the exciting conclusion in this second half from Cincinnati.
