Verba de Ludis

I had no idea what Villanova was truly capable of when they entered their previous game against Xavier. I knew Ryan Arcidiacono and Jalen Brunson were two of the best point guards in the BIG EAST, which seems unfair, so I assumed that they'd dictate the entire game. Well, Archie hit 7 threes while dishing out 8 assists and the Xavier defense locked down on Brunson to force him into a negative assist-to-turnover ratio (2AST, 3TO). The Wildcats played a pretty stingy zone defense on the Musketeers - a swarming, lockdown zone that was beautiful and would make a grown man cry - which happens to be the Bluejay's kryptonite. Ochefu will have his hands full with Groselle, but will be able to make hay if he manages to get Creighton's 7-footer into foul trouble. The key to this one for the 'Cats is to get Josh Hart going to open up some opportunities for Arch and Brunson.

Meanwhile, Creighton was able to beat St. John's in a really strange basketball game. The Jays relied heavily on pounding the ball down low and letting Groselle work. Against a potential All-American and tenacious shot blocker in Ochefu, the Jays may find it imperative to continue to feed the big man down low and try to get the Villanova big man on the bench as soon as possible. I think Creighton will be able to dominate the game if they're able to force Nova into a smaller lineup, as the Jays play incredibly well when they get the tempo pumping. Creighton is also playing at home and Villanova is playing on the road which gives the Bluejays an immediate advantage.

Will we see an upset in Omaha tonight? Perhaps, but it's going to be one hell of a basketball game.
