The Villanova Wildcats headed to the Verizon Center on Saturday afternoon with one thing on their mind: Revenge.
Villanova's last conference loss came last January 20th at the Verizon Center to the Georgetown Hoyas. Since then, the Wildcats have reeled off 20 straight Big East victories.
The Wildcats improved their streak to 21 straight conference victories, and virtually assured themselves a top 5 AP ranking come Monday, knocking off the Hoyas 55-50.
The Wildcats were led by another strong showing from Josh Hart. The junior guard picked up his fourth double-double of the season (third of conference play), leading the 'Cats with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera led the Hoyas with 15 points, but also committed seven turnovers, as Villanova's defense gave the senior guard fits.
Villanova improves to 16-2, 6-0 with the victory. They'll head to Newark on Wednesday night to face the Seton Hall Pirates.
Georgetown falls to 11-7, 4-2. They'll head to Cincinnati on Tuesday night to face the Xavier Musketeers.
