Villanova vs. Georgetown halftime notes

The Wildcats lead the Hoyas at the half in a tussle in D.C.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Villanova leads Georgetown 26-22 after the first half. Here are the big storylines of the game so far:

~ D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera is set on having an encore to his 33-point performance against the St. John's Red Storm earlier this week. DSR has 10 points, four rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist after the first half of play with a 4-for-8 mark from the field. His 10 points lead all scorers on both sides.

~ This may shock you, but Villanova is out in front thanks to a balanced attack. Josh Hart and Ryan Arcidiacono each have six points at the break while Daniel Ochefu and Kris Jenkins have four points apiece .Darryl Reynolds and Mikal Bridges have a combined five points off the bench and freshman point guard Jalen Brunson might have just one point at the half, but he has three boards and two assists and is getting it done on both ends of the floor.

~ Isaac Copeland has seven points, but Georgetown needs to find a semblance of balance as well. Only Reggie Cameron and L.J. Peak have registered at least two points this half aside and aside from DSR and Copeland, they are the only Hoyas to score thus far. They will simply need more production.

~ Villanova isn't exactly shooting well from the perimeter against a skittish Hoya perimeter defense. The Wildcats have a 1-for-8 mark from the 3-point line after the first 20 minutes. Comparatively, Georgetown is shooting 44.4 percent, 4-for-9, in the first half.
