The Butler Bulldogs will be honoring Andrew Smith in a variety of ways this weekend, the team announced Friday morning.
Smith, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 25 following a long battle with cancer, was a standout on Butler's back-to-back national runner up teams.
Saturday's game against St. John's will be Butler's annual "Stay Positive Day", in honor of Smith. Butler will also debut their "AS44" jersey patches that they will wear the rest of the season, and there will be a moment of silence and video tribute, both of which will air on FOX Sports 1 if you are unable to attend the game. All Big East games this weekend will feature a moment of silence before the game.
On Sunday, there will be a service to celebrate Smith's life at 5 p.m. at Traders Point Christian Church in Whitestown. If you are unable to attend, the service will be streamed online at TPCC.org.
Donations to Be The Match or the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund are also welcome.
