Creighton Bluejays point guard Maurice Watson Jr. already took home BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on Monday. Now, he adds another: the Big East Coast Bias Player of the Week.
Watson Jr. excelled in both of Creighton's victories last week over Georgetown and Seton Hall, dropping a combined 40 points in the two games. The former BU Terrier had 13 points and 14 assists in the Bluejays' romp over the Pirates in New Jersey back on Saturday which perhaps propelled him over the top.
Maurice Watson Jr. received 10 of 17 votes cast amongst the BECB staff. Five of those 17 went to Villanova Wildcats wing Josh Hart while the remaining two went to Marquette Golden Eagles freshman Henry Ellenson.
This marks the first time in the short history of the award that it has gone to someone who isn't on the Providence Friars or Butler Bulldogs.
