Report: 2016 four-star power forward Kassoum Yakwe to choose St. John's over Oregon

Chris Mullin and company will be landing a big-time local prospect, per reports.

Kassoum Yakwe, a four-star power forward from Centereach, New York, will be sticking around to play his college basketball at St. John's, instead of heading across the country to Oregon, according to the Bergen (NJ) County Record's J.P. Pelzman.

Yakwe was long expected to pick St. John's over Oregon, but his story got a bit more interesting a few weeks ago when Jeff Goodman tweeted that Yakwe was considering reclassifying to 2015.

Word is that he's still in the process, but may not get cleared in time. If he does manage to reclassify to 2015, Chris Mullin will have an immediate impact player a year earlier than expected. If not, St. John's will still be right on track with their rebuilding process.

Below is Yakwe's most recent highlight tape.
