The Sandy Cohen Chronicles - "The Father Knows Best" - Anonymous Eagle
The near-unanimous reaction to hearing that Marquette had received a verbal commitment from Seymour (WI) guard Sandy Cohen was "What, the dad from The O.C.?" As such, it seemed the obvious thing to do would be use The O.C. references when he makes an outstanding play for the Golden Eagles. We spent last summer recapping episodes from the first season of the classic Fox drama in order to mine for gold for when the basketball playing Cohen did something superlative. He had a relatively quiet freshman campaign, but that doesn't curtail our quest for entertainment, both during the season and during the quiet summer months. So we're back again in 2015 with recaps for the 24 episode second season.
Coaches top 25 poll comes out; Xavier not even receiving votes - Banners on the Parkway
The top 25 college teams as voted on by the coaches dropped today, and once again Xavier isn't even receiving votes. How many times do we have to go through this? Xavier flies under the radar of respect and recognition during the summer only to once again be one of the teams left standing on the second weekend of the tournament while other programs' hopes lay in the ashes. With what Xavier is bringing back from last year's Sweet 16 team, there is no sense in having nobody rate them as one of the top 25 programs in the nation.

For the 5th summer in a row, we're tackling the 50 best players in College Basketball. There's a dozen or so players listed at the very bottom who "just missed." What constitutes "Best?" A combination of things: 1) How they've played in college or last year in high school, 2) How I project them as a player next year, 3) Individual skill and value to the team, 4) How I project them as a pro.
