Marquette Golf Notebook -

Rising Marquette senior Pat Sanchez posted back-to-back rounds of even par 72 to finish in a tie for second place at the 114th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship at Erin Hills Golf Course. Sanchez was joined in the field by four other Marquette players who made the cut - Sanchez's final round partner and MU classmate, Zach Gaugert, finished in a tie for fifth place after entering the final round in the top spot. On the par-5, 660-yard 18th hole, Sanchez hit his approach shot to 10 feet left of the hole, needing a birdie putt to tie for the lead - his birdie attempt slid right of the hole and he finished in five.
