The Sandy Cohen Chronicles: "The Lonely Hearts Club" - Anonymous Eagle

The near-unanimous reaction to hearing that Marquette had received a verbal commitment from Seymour (WI) guard Sandy Cohen was "What, the dad from The O.C.?" As such, it seemed the obvious thing to do would be use The O.C. references when he makes an outstanding play for the Golden Eagles. We spent last summer recapping episodes from the first season of the classic Fox drama in order to mine for gold for when the basketball playing Cohen did something superlative. He had a relatively quiet freshman campaign, but that doesn't curtail our quest for entertainment, both during the season and during the quiet summer months. So we're back again in 2015 with recaps for the 24 episode second season.

Xavier in the NBA Summer League - Banners on the Parkway

Semaj Christon, Matt Stainbrook, and Jordan Crawford all took to the NBA summer hardwood in order to try to find a spot in the league. All three were coming from vastly different situations last year and looking to turn that success into a chance. Jordan Crawford is alone among the three in having some NBA experience already.

The DePaul women's basketball team is spent Sunday, July 19 volunteering their time at the Sheffield Music Festival & Garden Walk which is a street festival held just outside the doors of McGrath-Phillips Arena. The DePaul Women's basketball team volunteered alongside parishioners from the St. Vincent de Paul parish helping to serve hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and drinks to festival goers. All of the concession proceeds benefited St. Vincent de Paul mission related activates.

Women's Golf Recognized for Academic Excellence - RedStormSports.com

The St. John's women's golf team was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association (WCGA) yesterday for its excellent work in the classroom, posting the seventh highest GPA in the nation. "I am very proud of our team's accomplishments in the classroom," head coach Ambry Bishop said. "They work very hard and always make academics a top priority. This honor truly reflects their dedication to represent themselves and our University at a high level in the classroom and on the golf course."
