The Butler Bulldogs added to their recruiting class of 2016 with the commitment of 6'2 guard Howard Washington. Washington is a talented guard that played last season alongside LSU-bound Ben Simmons at Montverde Academy in Florida. He also runs with the Albany City Rocks on the Nike EYBL circuit. This marks Butler's second commitment in the class of 2016 with center Joey Brunk committing on June 14th.
Butler still has 3 open scholarships in the class of 2016, according to VerbalCommits.com and Coach Chris Holtmann has a lot to replace after the 2015-16 season as he will lose Kellen Dunham and Roosevelt Jones to graduation. Big man Andrew Chrabascz and guard Tyler Lewis will also be seniors by the time Brunk and Washington arrive at Butler.

Washington is ranked as high as 83rd by Rivals.com and his 247sports.com composite national ranking is 157th. He also had offers from George Washington, Georgia Tech, LSU, Miami (FL), Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Xavier, per Scout.com. His ESPN.com scouting report says Washington is "a true point guard who has a high basketball I.Q. and understanding of the game to go along with a presence for the position and natural rhythm to his game." The Buffalo native visited Butler over the weekend for his only official visit and is now a Bulldog.
