Current Oakland Athletics pitcher and former Creighton Bluejay Pat Venditte has been hit with the injury bug.
A shoulder strain has caused the ambidextrous hurler to land on the 15-day disabled list. The news comes from various MLB-affiliated outlets including Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Gate.
Prior to this injury, Venditte had not allowed a single earned run in 5.2 innings pitched, coinciding with a 6.35 K/9 against 18 total batters.
Venditte made history in his first appearance against the Boston Red Sox as he became the first full-time "switch" pitcher. Or, as one paper noted, an amphibian.
