Xavier (6) vs. Georgia St. (14) Halftime Notes

Xavier leads upset minded Georgia State by 4 at half

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

  • Xavier leads Georgia State 32-28 at the half.
  • Xavier went on a 9-0 run capped by a Myles Davis 3-pointer to take a 15-4 lead with 13:40 left in the half.
  • The Musketeers are switching between a 1-3-1 zone defense and man to man. The 1-3-1 zone is forcing Georgia State to make lob passes and star R.J. Hunter is having to shoot from 2-3 feet beyond the arc to get his shot off.
  • Georgia State is playing their normal full court press dropping back in to a 2-3 zone which Xavier has found some success against, especially driving and getting to the line.
  • Xavier is 9-10 from the free throw line and Georgia State is 0-2.
  • Georgia State is 4-8 from deep and will need to continue that shooting in the 2nd half to keep the game within reach.
  • Xavier forward Jalen Reynolds has 10 points off the bench and is the game's leading scorer at half.
  • Look for R.J. Hunter to be more assertive and try to get in the paint more in the second half as he had just one field goal inside the 3-point line in the first half and no free-throws.
