Suffice it to say that Georgetown's thought of winning the Big East Tournament proved to be quixotic, with their hopes being dashed in an upset at the hands of the Xavier Musketeers. While their first leg of postseason play may not have ended as ideally as the Hoyas had hoped, the big dance was still ahead of them. Georgetown now knows, however, what road they will have to head down to get to Indianapolis.
The Hoyas will have to first go through Eastern Washington, a team that has already taken down teams like Indiana in Assembly Hall earlier this year. The rest of the South Region can be seen below. Doug Gottlieb said on the Selection Show that "they are dying to be upset". We shall see.
Georgetown is once again looking to shake their recent trend of early exits that have plagued them in recent NCAA Tournament appearances. The Hoyas have not made it past the first weekend since their 2007 Final Four run, losing in the first round in three of the past four seasons. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Josh Smith will be looking to set past missteps aside as they look to get past the first weekend--and beyond.
