The St. John's Red Storm met the Niagara Purple Eagles for the 100th time on Wednesday night. And needless to say, the matchup looked like an antique.
St. John's came away with a 48-44 victory -- not a typo -- over Niagara at Carnesecca Arena in Jamaica, Queens. The Johnnies move to 6-3 on the season, making it four years in a row that the Red Storm have gone through the first nine games of the year with a record of 6-3 or better.
Federico Mussini led all St. John's scorers with 11 points while Christian Jones complemented with 10. Yankuba Sima had six points and grabbed six rebounds, dished out an assist and posted three blocks on the night as well.
Not much else to say about this one, folks. It's onto Syracuse for St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Let's hope for improvement.
