The Marquette Golden Eagles kept their winning ways up on Saturday afternoon with a 104-67 romp over the Maine Black Bears.
The Golden Eagles picked up their fifth win in a row thanks in part to the efforts of big men Luke Fischer and Henry Ellenson. The titanous combo allotted 44 of Marquette's 104 points, and shot a combined 17-for-23 from the field. "The Big Fisch" missed just two shots on the day, scoring 21 and grabbed seven rebounds.
Marquette's super freshman Ellenson added 23 points of his own and went 2-for-3 from the 3-point line. He was nearly impeccable at the free throw line, making seven of his eight free opportunities. Ellenson added four rebounds and an assist.
Traci Carter, Haanif Cheatham, and Jajuan Johnson joined their fellow teammates in double figures. The trio scored 10, 17 and 14 points respectively. Carter was multifaceted on Saturday afternoon, picking up seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists. Cheatham kept up his play of late with four rebounds and three assists to go along with his consistent scoring. Johnson had three boards and two assists, as well.
This was nothing short of a dominant performance for MU who now turns their attention to San Jose State on Tuesday. The Spartans are the appetizer of sorts to the main course - a showdown with in-state rival Wisconsin next Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
