Villanova's Jalen Brunson has had a great year.

In March, he was named Illinois' Mr. Basketball, and won a state championship with the Stevenson Patriots.

Then, over the summer, Brunson partook in the FIBA U19 World Championships. He led Team USA to the title, averaging 14 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game in the seven victories. Brunson was named the MVP of the tournament.

That performance is what clinched Brunson's status as 2015 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year, which USA Basketball announced Monday.

Brunson joins elite company, as previous winners of this award include LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, and David Robinson.

Brunson is averaging 10.5 points and 3.1 assists per game so far this season for Villanova.
