— BIG EAST Conference (@BIGEAST) December 21, 2015
The award continues to bounce around the conference as Sumner is one of five BIG EAST freshmen to receive the award through the season's first six weeks. Only Marquette's Henry Ellenson has won the award two times thus far, as it's wound up in the hands of Yankuba Sima (St. John's), Eli Cain (DePaul), and Khryi Thomas (Creighton) as well.
The Motor City native performed splendidly in Xavier's 85-61 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Sumner scored 13 while going 3-for-5 from the 3-point line and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe. Additionally, the 6-foot-6 frosh grabbed six rebounds and tossed five assists and a steal to boot with just two turnovers on the afternoon.
