St. John's vs. Fordham recap: Rams defeat Red Storm

St. John's could never get anything going in their loss to Fordham

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Throughout the entire season, it will be repeated that it is unfair to judge the St. John's Red Storm on a game-to-game basis.

St. John's went through more changes, in both coaching and players, than any school in the conference, if not the country.

With this in mind, the season is going to be tough to watch if you look for game-by-game improvements over week-to-week or even month-to-month.

Take the week and a half prior to the Maui Invitational, for example. The Red Storm went 3-0 and looked average to above average in each of the three wins.

Then, last week in Maui, they went 1-2, but looked good in the final two games.

Wednesday night, the Red Storm traveled to the Bronx to face the Fordham Rams of the A-10. Fordham defeated St. John's by a 73-57 margin in a game that was never particularly close.

Felix Balamou played 31 minutes off the bench and led the Red Storm in scoring with 14 points. He also had five rebounds and five assists.

Kassoum Yakwe added nine points in his season, and college, debut. Yakwe was cleared by the NCAA last week.

For Fordham, forward Ryan Rhoomes set a career high in scoring with 26 points. Rhoomes also pulled down 12 rebounds.

The Red Storm fall to 4-3 on the season as they get ready for the MSG Holiday Festival Sunday at Madison Square Garden, at which they'll play the St. Francis Terriers.
