Kelan Martin wins Big East Coast Bias Player of the Week award

The Butler sophomore had a brilliant week of play.

Butler Bulldogs forward Kelan Martin is the third recipient of the Big East Coast Bias Player of the Week award.

Martin, a sophomore from Louisville, Kentucky has been on a torrid pace of late and that continued in last week's worth of games for the Bulldogs. Kelan scored 25 points in Butler's win over Tennessee and 20 against VMI earlier on in the week, amounting for an average of 22.5 points.

His efficiency was put on display as well as the sophomore forward shot a combined 17-for-28 in both contests, and 6-for-10 from the 3-point line. That included a 5-for-8 day against the Vols this past Saturday to help Martin to his career-high 25-point performance.

The Butler forward ran away with the award this week. Martin received a total of eight votes out of 13 accounted for. Others receiving votes included Marquette freshman Henry Ellenson, Georgetown senior D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, reigning BECB Player of the Week, Providence sophomore Ben Bentil and Xavier junior Myles Davis.
