3 things to watch
1. Syracuse loves the three ball: The Orange love for the 3-point shot this season and have lived and died by it. It is also something the Johnnies need to keep a careful eye for on the perimeter In their seven wins this season, the Orange have shot 42 percent from long range, whereas in their two losses this season shot 27 percent from outside the arc. Malachi Richardson in particular is one of the main cogs for the Orange with the three ball, when he gets hot he can aid Syracuse greatly.
2. Mussini Muscle: Federico Mussini has been one of the main cogs for St. John's young team this season. He is leading the Red Storm with 14 points per game and has been the leading scorer in seven of the nine games that St. John's have so far played this season. He is also their anchor for the movement of the offense with a team-leading 2.8 assists per game so far this season. For success in this game, the Red Storm need Mussini to be the cog that he is.
3. An Early BIG Tune Up?: While Syracuse is no longer a part of the BIG EAST, this game will still have a that BIG EAST feel to it. That feel could be important to St. John's, who is in the middle of their final weeks of nonconference play before making the turn over to Big East play. For the Johnnies, that means it is all about the final tuneups before conference play, this game being one of them and in the case of Syracuse presents a feel for conference play for this year for St. John's side. How they fare in this game will left to be seen, but for the time being the Orange are going to give the Red Storm an early taste of what's to come.
