Every year, Xavier and Cincinnati meet in the Crosstown Shootout.
This year, though, it may very well be bigger than ever. It's the first time being back in the Cintas Center since the infamous brawl four years ago, and both teams are ranked going into the game for just the second time ever.
We thought it would be a fun idea to have fans, from both sides, sum up what the rivalry means to them. Below are the responses we got.
Working on a #CrosstownShootout piece. In one tweet, what does the rivalry mean to you? Open to #LetsGoX AND #GoBearcats fans.

@becb_sbn so here's the thing, this year it means a meaningful OOO win. Cincy alum from NY so I dont have strong feelings oddly #GoBearcats

Anything can happen. #LetsGoX https://t.co/CbGchog7Ou

@becb_sbn It may be trite, but if X can only win 1 more game, it's the Shootout. Both sides almost view it as a way of life is on the line.

@becb_sbn it means shutting up my Xavier fan "friends" for an entire year. City bragging rights. Proving that UC is the #1 program in Cincy.

@becb_sbn I'd rather go 1-30 with a W than 30-1 with an L #LetsGoX

@becb_sbn well I'm under 30 years old so for me it means lots of #LetsGoX W's and Little Bro Syndrome from all my UC fan buddies

@becb_sbn My wife will be induced to birth our 4th baby on Sat. & my biggest concern is missing the #CrosstownShootout. #LetsGoX

@becb_sbn As Tu Holloway once put it, "we went out there and we zipped em up".

@becb_sbn City divided. Most bitter rivalry in sports. Pure hatred, no love lost. I went to OSU and OSU/UM doesnt compare in terms of hate.

@becb_sbn the most important day of my school year, hatred, losing ur voice, raw emotion, getting loud & staying there #BeatUC #XavierNation
