Creighton 52 - Upper Iowa 37

We all saw this coming. Creighton currently leads Upper Iowa 52-37 at halftime here in Omaha. The Peacocks look pretty outmatched thus far, with one bright spot in guard Jimmy Roth who was able to pour in a few choice baskets against the Bluejays in the first half finishing with 13 points on 6-7 shooting. The Upper Iowa squad couldn't do a whole lot against the vicious Bluejay press, turning the ball over 15 times in the first half. Other than Roth's performance the Bluejay practice opponent just looked 5 or 6 steps slower.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, the new-look Bluejays looks very, very good. Is it because of their opponent? Probably. Toby Hegner has looked really good so far, hitting some Dougie-esque 3's from the top of the 3-point line in transition, finishing at 2-3 from three and 11 points at half. Maurice Watson has dominated on defense, suffocating the Peacock attack and collecting 3 steals while shining equally as bright on the offensive side scoring 13. The most impressive performance so far this half has been Geoffrey Groselle when he's on the court. Groselle, a 7' senior center, has a menacing appeal to him on defense while cleaning up the offensive glass collecting 4 offensive rebounds. He's constantly barking out strategy to his teammates. Isaiah Zierden has looked pretty good, scoring 12 points on 3-6 shooting from 3. He still looks a little slow, tenuous at best on defense. The Slovenian Assassin was able to log 4 minutes and picked up a bucket, finishing the half with 2 points. Overall, the Jays look good.

Creighton Halftime Stats:

18-35 FG  51.4% - 8-14 3FG 57.1% - 4 Turnovers - 8 Steals - 8 Assists - 11 Rebounds

This is an exhibition game. I'm so glad basketball is back, aren't you?
