Georgia vs. Seton Hall recap: Pirates defeat Bulldogs in close game

Isaiah Whitehead led the Pirates with 22 points.

Coming off of a strong showing in the Charleston Classic, Seton Hall returned to Newark Saturday night to face the Georgia Bulldogs.

Seton Hall, led by Isaiah Whitehead's big night, knocked the Bulldogs off by a score of 69-62.

Last season, Seton Hall went to Athens and faced the Bulldogs, and were only able to score 47 points in a bad loss. Isaiah Whitehead and Sterling Gibbs shot a combined 3-17.

Tonight, however, was a polar opposite to that game. The Pirates were able to contain SEC Co-Player of the Week, Kenny Gaines. Gaines spent most of the game in foul trouble, after picking up three in the first half.

Georgia was led by forward Yante Maten, who had 21 points and eight rebounds.

For the Pirates, it was all about Khadeen Carrington and Isaiah Whitehead.

Whitehead led the way with 22 points, including a big three down the stretch to seal the victory for the Pirates. Carrington added 20 points on 7-13 shooting.

Angel Delgado added 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Up next, the Pirates (5-1) will go to Washington DC to face the George Washington Colonels (6-1). The Colonels won their first six games, including one over top-10 Virginia, before losing to Cincinnati Saturday afternoon.
