The Stakes

The Providence Friars welcome the NJIT Highlanders to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Monday night. The Friars and Highlanders have played one other time in their histories: a 64-63 Providence win on November 10, 2012. A win on Monday night means Providence would enter the Wooden Legacy Tournament this weekend at 4-0. NJIT is off to their best start in the program's 10 year history at 3-1 with the lone loss coming at the hands of Kentucky. Providence also has to defend the Big East against the upstart Highlanders who are 0-20 all-time against teams from the conference. Kris Dunn figures to garner more national attention over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend as the Friars will be on ESPN networks during the Wooden Legacy Tournament. ESPN's Jeff Goodman filmed an All-Access piece with Dunn recently on Providence's campus and I'm guessing that will be played during the Wooden Legacy coverage. Another good game for Dunn can solidify his on-court performance with the off-court attention he has been receiving.
